National Contingency Day

We would like to advise you of some information we have received from the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), the organisation overseeing the arrangements for GCSE and GCE examinations. For the first time during the Summer 2019 examination series they have announced a National Contingency Day which would be invoked ‘in the event of widespread, sustained national or local disruption to examinations’.

The decision comes following the tragic events of last year namely the Manchester attack and the Grenfell Tower fire. The National Contingency Day would allow any examinations to be postponed in the event of an incident to a later date to allow all students a fair and equal chance.

The National Contingency Day is 24 June 2020

All candidates must be available to sit examinations on that date. Please note that this is a national date and applies to all candidates in all schools.
